About Kasmanda Palace Hotel
One of the few heritage hotels in Uttaranchal, Hotel Kasmanda Palace
stands elegantly at an altitude of 7000 feet in Mussoorie, 200 metres
uphill on Mall road. What lends the hotel an English old world charm
are its white interiors. The hotel gleams in contrast to the
surrounding greenery in summers and matches the fluffy snow during
winters making a picture perfect setting.
What stands today as a prestigious heritage hotel of Uttaranchal was originally a part of Christ church complex that was built here in 1836 by captain Rennie Tailor of Bengal Engineers. It was later turned into a summer retreat palace of the Royal Kasmanda family in 1915. It was only later that it turned into a boutique hotel. Till date, it is managed by the royal family.
The architecture of the Kasmanda palace is Anglo-French style though the white colour might give it that English feel. Three acres of gardens compliment the structure making it a picture book scenery. The hotel stands facing south, looking just as majestic as it could be overlooking the Doon Valley and the Mussoorie town below.
